The Art of Living

Have you kissed your leg/toes lately?

Yummy Sandwiches at the Avenues Bakery

Is there a picture of Jesus and a door mat that says, "Home is where the heart is..."

There is an apartment complex about a block and a half away from Maddie's on the same street that looks just like her apartment. We were at her actual apartment earlier in the day and then we went back to her apartment after going to Wild Oats. We knocked and knocked and then we got a phone call from Maddie saying, "Where are you guys?" I got to thinking that maybe we were in the wrong place. I asked her if there was a picture of Jesus and a door mat that says home is where the heart is. She said no and said to go South a little bit. We were laughing!!!! We laughed even harder later in the day when my Dad called Maddie and said he couldn't get the key to open the door to her apartment. Maddie asked him if there was a picture of Jesus and a door mat that said, "Home is where the heart is..." He said, "Yes." Maddie told him to go south a block and a half!!!!

Can you say gelato???

Ollie's flowers that he picked for me.

Ollie called me from Addy's cell phone to tell me he had a surprise for me down at the field where they play. I went down there and Addy whispered that Ollie was hiding behind a tree. I pretended to look for him and then he jumped out and said, "Surprise!" he had picked me this pile of dandelions and little purple flowers and grass. I love him so much!!!

Paolo has his first taste of Gelato!

There is this yummy Gelato place on Center Street called Maestro's. They have such good gelato. We love to ride the bike down there and indulge. Yesterday Maddie came with us and Lolo was trying to grab her cup of Gelato so we gave in and gave him a taste. I think he liked it. Boy were Ollie and Nena wound up. Here are some pics...

The Passing of a dear friend and neighbor

Last Friday we went to Virginia Duke's funeral. She was such a wonderful neighbor. She was always so kind and so friendly and she really had her act together. We had no idea when we bought our house that we would be so fortunate to live next door to her. It was so nice to see her four kids and her grand-daughter Raquel. They are a great family. Virginia was 93 and she had 4 kids, 14 grandkids, 22 great grandkids and 43 great-great grandkids. Here is a picture of her beautiful plum tree. She always had her yard looking so amazing. I miss her so much. She made a big impact on me.

He's taking my car!!!

Maddie wanted to buy the Camry but she decided to get a more affordable car and bought a '98 Accord. Naui sold the Camry to some other guy and Maddie sadly watched him drive off in it.

Our Biggest Baby Turns 14!!!

We had a nice day with Addy!!! We picked him up from school and took him to Bajio for lunch. He loves the Mexican pizza there. We lucked out and saw a beautiful bright yellow ferrari and we actually ate outside right by the car so we could look at it. Ollie gave Addy a Spiderman 3 shirt and we gave him some blue and orange Nikes and another shirt. After school he went around with Skyler for a while on the go cart and mini bike and then we went up to
The Old Spaghetti Factory in Taylorsville. I made him a Tres Leches Cake and we met my parents, Laura and her boys up there. It was so much fun!!!! It was nice too because Skyler kept the kids awake on the way up so they fell asleep on the way home and we watched the Jazz beat Houston!!!!!!!!!! Yeah!!!!!!!!! Trent texted Addy a cute photo of Memo's shoe inside the O on the floor of the Toyota center. Wow!! That's one big foot. Happy Birthday Addy!!!!!!

Dessert Heaven

Unfortunately I don't have a picture of this, but Cynthia and I had the best dessert yesterday at Faustina's in Salt Lake. It was a blueberry soufle with honey lavender sauce. Hello!!!!! This dessert was to die for. We wanted to bathe ourselves in the sauce. Our server came out with this amazing delicacy and she put a butter knife down through the soufle and wiggled the knife and then poured in the sauce. Woooooooweeeeeeeeeeeeee!! Yeow. Ummmmmm delish. I love lavender in any way, shape or form. Thanks, Cynthia for the tip and for allowing me to experience this culinary ecstacy.

The Passing of a dear friend--Glenn Miller

Today we buried a dear, dear friend. I miss him!!!!!!!!!! My Dad gave a heartfelt dedicatory prayer and my Mom made her famous buttermilk rolls and pumpkin bread for a light picnic after the burial service. What a special day. I'm glad that Glenn's remains reside where my brother is buried. It's comforting.
