Mi Rancherito

We've been eating at this restaurant for years. It's now called El Mexal but we still call it Mi Rancherito. I got the shrimp cocktail today and the kids always get the chix enchiladas. As you can see, I colored my hair. I had to do something with the gray. I even painted my nails last night. Wow. Haven't done that for a long time.

One of my favorite stores in Salt Lake

I once got a pedicure here thanks to Shanny. Talk about a treat. I love all of there things. They have quite a variety from jewelry to nail polish to Bumble and Bumble to Hobo to books. I could spend a long time in there. If you haven't checked it out, you should. It's on 21st South and maybe about 9th east or so by Smith's.

More pics from the Shanghai

Happy Chinese New Year (tomorrow)!!!!

We celebrate the Chinese New Year largely because of Anthony speaking/knowing Chinese and for all of our Chinese friends and loved ones. We went to the Shanghai Cafe in Salt Lake for the Dragon Dance last night and it was awesome. The fire crackers were so loud and the kids went crazy. The dragon danced in the parking lot and took a grapefruit off of the altar and then came into the restaurant and took something off of the ceiling that was hanging up (made out of newspaper like a little pinata of sorts). It danced around and made a lot of money. We stopped at Got Beauty on our way home. I love that store!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The girl working there looked like the girl in Transformers and I'm fairly certain that Ollie and Addy both liked her. She was nice. Our dinner was great. I got the tofu vermicelli rice noodle salad. It is the bomb!!!!!

One more of Lolo

Parade Pics

Martin Luther King Weekend

We had so much fun last Friday. We went up to Salt Lake and picked up Nat from school. Then we went to Hires where Naui surprised us and showed up. The kids loved the food there and we saw a lot of Utes fans wearing red. Then we went to the knitting store and Backer's Bakery... Talk about two cute stores!!!! I was so inspired. Then we picked up Noah from his school where we found a digital camera to use for the parade (we were lamenting the fact that we forgot our camera) and then we went to the parade and we marched all the way from the Conference Center down to the City and County Building. Sunday was calm and relaxing--somewhat if you consider teaching Ollie's primary class relaxing. On Monday I ran errands and got things for Naui to take back to Ecuador and then I felted my coin purse at Laura's house. What a dream weekend. Every day is a dream with my kiddies.

Celebrating the Full Moon

Nena did a snow angel first and unfortunately I don't have a picture of her doing that. She was out of the snow and into the hot tub (not hottub) before I could get her picture but I did talk Ollie into doing one with me.

Our new couch

I have to give all credit to Laura for finding this couch. Laura, couches and I go way back. She helped me pick out my very first couch when I got married (in Walnut Creek CA).

These boots and these jeans were made for walkin'

Spending the day with my Brazilian Twin 8 years my junior

Cynthia came down and we made Tortilla Soup together and then we put some cute patches on her jeans. She ordered a cute pair of cowboy boots to go with the jeans. We have a trip all planned to go to Vegas and do some shopping. Think we can do it with three young children? We want to go to Benetton among some other stores. I want to be like her great-grandmother--an expert seamstress and chocolate lover.

More from New Year's Eve

I love this church across from the Cinegrill. Ollie standing on Mt. Everest in front of our house. Lolo's do. etc. etc.

More from New Year's Eve

We drove down from Salt Lake and went over to the Provo Towne Center. It was packed. We met up with Ken and Dave and Maddie. We got some fun hairdos by none other than the Paul Mitchell School. Naui asked me if I was going to change my facebook picture to one with my new hairdo. I told him no. Lolo looked great. We couldn't get Nena to sit in the chair for the pretties (that's what we call it when we do her hair). The music was fun and they had a mallet game where you hit the brick thingy hard to try to ring the bell at the top of the post thing. Ken, Ollie and I tried it but we couldn't. The volunteer working the game said that no one rung the bell the whole night. I figured it was rigged. We stayed at the mall until about 11:15, came home to watch Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin for a while and then drove down to the parking garage to see the fireworks. What a fun, fun, fun and magical night. My Mom, Laura and her boys came down too!!!!!!!!

New Year's Eve 2008

Naui went to the auction in the morning. We met up with him, my parents, Laura, Trent and the boys at one of our favorite restaurants--The Cinegrill--for lunch. It was so good but Naui and I tried not to eat too much because my dear Kristi gave us a gift certificate to Cucina Toscana. We enlisted a few babysitters and actually went out on a date if you can believe it!!!!! It was delish!!! Good thing I had my read coat on 'cause it was a little on the fancy side. It was so nice to see Kristi. She gave me a darling mug that I can hug while I'm drinking my tea and hot chocolate. She also gave me some soap that she got me in Hawaii. I got spoiled. Anyway--our day was so much fun. My Dad did a great job with the kids at the studio and Laura and my Mom had Ollie while they looked for a new couch. We got to see some of my Dad's latest paintings and they are so magnificent. I wan to open a little gallery and get going.
